A New Community has been Born
Milan's new home for indie builders and solopreneurs
We all know that a journey is better when done with someone else.
That’s why, over the last month, I wrote a post asking whether it makes sense to start another community related to the indie/builders/solopreneurs world, and I received a lot of energy and positive feedback, so I decided to create IndieMilano.
Another important point is that we as humans tend to desire what other people desire; in fact, if we want to generalize, the first success metric is how much money you have in your bank account. Consequently, the hack here is to surround yourself with people who want more or less the same things that you want, “building your bubble”.
I am writing this article now because yesterday we had our first meetup, and let me say it was amazing.
We couldn’t start our meetups better because we had as a first speaker Roberto Stagi, who talked about his path from leaving Bending Spoons to building a startup, and what I like most is the fact of going all in doing it, leaving their full-time job, and the fast iteration he and his co-founder have, changing the thing they build based on the feedback they receive, and if I am not wrong they has built three different products in the last seven months, and fortunately they are raising funds now :).
That first meetup confirmed what I already suspected: there’s something special brewing in Milan’s indie scene. Seeing a room full of people who chose to spend their evening sharing stories, challenges, and things they are building was insightful.
Roberto’s journey reminded us that going all-in isn’t just about quitting your job; it’s about committing to the iteration, to the feedback, to the process. And that’s exactly what IndieMilano is about—creating a space where we can iterate together, fail together, and hopefully succeed together.
The journey ahead is long, and I don’t know exactly where this community will go. But I do know that yesterday, I left that meetup more energized than I’ve felt in months. And judging by the conversations that continued long after the official end time, I wasn’t the only one.
So if you’re in Milan (or planning to be) and you’re building something—whether it’s your first side project or your third pivot—come join us. Let’s build our bubble together.
See you at the next meetup.
